A protective laptop sleeve made from used plaster bags found in Emily Carr's ceramic studio and yoga mats donated by local yoga studios.
Duration: 1 month
With sustainable product design in mind, the Re-Sleeve was designed to give life to empty plaster bags thrown away, not recycled, by students and faculty at Emily Carr. The piles of paper bags were found among the trash one day while working in the ceramic studio. After some examination, it was clear that the paper that once housed dry plaster was unable to be recycled due to leftover residue. The design solution evolved into up-cycling the paper bags into a sustainable, protective laptop sleeve targeted for Emily Carr students, faculty and visitors.
